Dish Network Launches Local HD in Laredo, Texas

Dish Network has launched local high-definition channels in the Laredo, Texas market area on July 8. Dish Network is now offering local HD channels in 151 markets, which represents 92 percent of U.S. households.

The satcaster has recently launched local HD channels in four markets that include: Fort Wayne, La Crosse-Eau Claire, Panama City and Wausau-Rhinelander.

Dish Network has launched local HD channels in four new markets last week. The satcaster has added local HD channels on July 1 in following markets:

Fort Wayne, Indiana

La Crosse-Eau Claire, Wisconsin

Panama City, Florida and

Wausau-Rhinelander, Wisconsin

Dish Network stated that it offers local HD channels in 150 markets and many more to come in this year.

DirecTV subscribers in Tallahassee, Florida are delivered with the local programming in high-definition from Dec.10. The satcaster has been launching local programming and also PBS stations in high-definition. Tallahassee subscribers are delivered with following channels in HD :

WCTV/CBS

WTWC/NBC and

WTLH/FOX

DirecTV claims that it offers local HD channels in 116 cities. Subscribers need to have H20 or H21 HD receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish to receive the programming in HD.

Dish Network is starting its local high-definition programming expansion. Dish Network has announced the launch of local HD stations in eight markets. DirecTV has been adding local HD channels in many cities and the satcaster now offers local HD broadcast in 115 cities which represents more than 87 percent of U.S. TV households. DirecTV is able to deliver local HD channels with the help of new satellite DIRECTV 11 launched in August. Dish Network also started to add local HD’s in few cities.

Now the satcaster has delivered HD locals in Louisville, Kentucky. Dish Network subscribers must have a MPEG-4 receiver to receive following channels

WAVE-TV 3 – Channel 5172.

WHAS-TV 11 – Channel 5170 and

WLKY-TV 32 – Channel 5171

Dish Network subscribers in other cities can also expect local HD’s very soon.

DirecTV’s Sioux Falls subscribers in South Dakota market now receives local high-definition channels from Thursday, Nov. 6, bringing the satcasters local HD broadcast to 109 cities. DirecTV is planning to provide local high-definition channels in more than 121 cities, representing approximately 88 percent of U.S. TV households. Dish Network has added local high-definition channels in six more markets, with this launch Dish now offer local HD channels in 76 markets, which represents roughly 72 percent of U.S. TV households. Dish Network is also planning to add local HD in many markets and the satcaster is offering HD programming with new TurboHD programming package which offers only HD channels.
