Dish Network has launched the first and only app from a TV service provider for the Apple iPad: DISH Remote Access. This app is specifically designed for the iPad that allows users to control their televisions and manage their programming remotely.

DISH Remote Access for the iPad is a fully-featured remote DVR scheduler that provides DISH Network customers with complete access to all DVR functions and features. Users can schedule DVR recordings on multiple receivers, delete timers, browse and search nine days of shows, and manage their DVR libraries by setting recording priorities, resolving recording conflicts and deleting programs they have already watched.

The DISH Remote Access app is compatible with most DISH Network SD and HD DVR receivers including the ViP 922, the world’s only DVR with built-in Sling technology.

The iPad-optimized DISH Remote Access app also includes a unique feature that transforms an iPad into a remote control for televisions connected to compatible DISH Network receivers. Using the iPad as a remote control, customers can change channels, browse the program guide, start playing recorded programs and enjoy all standard remote navigation features such as fast forward, rewind and pause.

EPIX Announces Two Original Programs Showcasing Louis C.K. And Lewis Black

EPIX has announced that it will bring two original programming on August 1 and September 18. EPIX turns to big name comics Louis C.K. and Lewis Black in expanding original programming on the multiplatform service launched by Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate.

The award-winning comedian and Daily Show contributor Lewis Black returns to EPIX on August 1 with Basic Black. In Basic Black, documentary filmmakers follow the performer on his sold-out tour and first EPIX comedy special, Stark Raving Black.

Concert footage is weaved with that of the comedian early in his career, reflections on his childhood, parents and the slow climb to fame where he says he had to “lick every rung on the ladder.” Known for his outrage with the entire social and political spectrum, Black gives the audience an in-depth look at his journey as a performer.

EPIX will turn to Louis C.K., writer, director, editor and star of the critically acclaimed FX series Louie on September, for the television premiere of the unique and dynamic live stand-up concert film Louis C.K.: Hilarious. Directed by Louis, his exploration of life after 40 destroys politically correct images of modern life with thoughts we have all had…but would rarely admit to.

The film will also have a limited independent theatrical release prior to premiering on EPIX. Filmed as part of his international theater tour, Louis C.K.: Hilarious premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January as the first stand-up concert film presented at Sundance. Variety raved, “Standup comedy cinema has a new star in Louis C.K.: Hilarious.” Louis’ new theater tour, “Louis C.K.: Word,” will kick off on September 17 in San Francisco.

ESPN 760 Partners With WPTV To Deliver Exclusive Sports Programming

The NBC-affiliated television station for West Palm Beach, WPTV has signed deal with ESPN 760. This deal will allow ESPN 760 to extensively cover WPTV’s NewsChannel 5, including local sports coverage, nightly sports wrap-up and the sports show on every Sunday’s “Braman 5 Sports Live.”

Travel Channel To Broadcast ‘Oregon Uncovered,’ Starting Mar.9

The European Travel Channel will deliver the attractions, people, experiences and scenic beauty of Oregon State. Travel Channel will broadcast the program twice daily for three years in Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and Italy.

Lifetime Television has ordered for Army Wives, highly rated drama series among Women for the fourth season. The new season will start in 2010 and will run for 18 weeks on Sundays. The second season was a grand success watched by 80 million total viewers and the final on Sunday, Nov.2, 2008 was Lifetime’s highest-rated and most watched original drama telecast ever among Adults 18-34.

BET Networks has announced that they have acquired two daytime court television shows, Judge Karen and Judge Hatchett. BET Networks will be broadcasting these two TV shows starting from today Monday through Friday. Judge Karen will be aired at 11:00 AM and Judge Hatchett at 11:30 AM starting from Sept.22

Verizon FiOS TV has announced that they are offering Verizon’s Spanish Language Package free for one year for new customers in Texas signing by Nov. 7. Spanish Language Package will carry 25 Spanish language channels offering programming on ESPN Deportes, Gol TV, CNN en espanol, Discovery Familia and Toon Disney en espanol. This package also provides programming such as La Familia Cosmovisio that honors Hispanic culture through music, kids programs and talk shows and Canal Sur, a unique source for news broadcasts and a variety of programs originating in Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

Digital Cable subscribers of Time Warner Cable’s Los Angeles will get free full episode sneak previews on Video On Demand (VOD) of “Crash,” from Oct.1. The first original dramatic series for Starz “Crash” will debut on Oct.17 on Starz primetime premiere at 10PM PT. “Crash” early sneak preview is also available in Standard and High-Definition on Time Warners’ Video On Demand. “Crash” is a provocative new 13-episode drama starring an ensemble cast led by film icon Dennis Hopper.
