DirecTV To Use TANDBERG’s New Coders To Expand HD Programming

DirecTV has selected the Ericsson Group’s TANDBERG Television and utilize TANDBERG MPEG-4 AVC HD encoding solutions for its local high definition channel expansion. The satcaster will use the new technology to go provide more HD local programming and national HD channels. DirecTV will use EN8095 encoders, which will be part of the EN8090 MPEG-4 AVC SD/HD encoding family and has various features which includes IP statistical multiplexing, 8VSB input and control of up to three different outputs.
