Well the announcement concerning faster broadband, is welcomed news, only thing is, how much more money will this new speed cost? Already we as customers are being gouged for service as it now exists. Now I know the excuse will be that their costs are competitive. What competition? Insight has a territorial monopoly, no direct competetion, and this is something that needs to change. If we had direct competition where the customer could choose between the services of two, or more cable/broadband companies prices would drop dramatically. And please do not say satellite, their programming line up is as ugly as cable.

The programming structure of cable is the pitts. What we need and what we are not getting is an ala-carte system, where the customer gets to choose what networks they want, or do not want. The average customer might watch one third of what cable offers, but pays for 100%. It is like going to the gas station and paying for thirty gallons of gas, and only getting ten gallons. Why? Then when asked why such a system is not in place, Insight says they do not have the technology for such a system, or that it would be cost prohibitive. But this is how cable TV is marketed in Canada. The Canadaians pay for only what they want, and not for a whole lot of junk. When was the last time anyone saw a cable network dropped from the line up due to poor ratings? It is all about the commercial revenues anyway. Besides the really good offerings are placed further up the food chain, and sold in blocks of four, or five. Meaning you have to buy three, or four networks you do not want, in order to get just the one you want. Robbery much?

Then there is the analog digital crossover. Why must I pay more for a digital signal, when Insight captures the signal which is now all digital, changes it to analog, and charges us more for the clean digital signal? In spite of the soft music in your little commercials, there are a great many of us who are not happy with the PRICE, or the SERVICE we get from Insight. Maybe soon Insight will realize cable TV is a habit, once broken, more customers will leave. If you the customer agree, or disagree with what I have said here, make your convictions known.
